AWARDS 1999/2000

The following Departmental awards were presented by Chief Novick and Captain Ferguson at the annual PBA Dinner on February 3, 2001.

Officer Troy Lipp; Exceptional Service Award

On November 2, 1999 Officer Troy Lipp volunteered to pose as a gas station attendant at a service station that an informant advised was to be robbed. The suspect approached Officer Lipp and attacked him with a ten inch screwdriver. He suffered a laceration to his face and the suspect was arrested.

Officer Timothy Lamb; Exceptional Service Award

On March 12, 2000 Officer Lamb responded to an unwanted person call. Upon his arrival he encountered a despondent person locked in a bedroom. Upon his entry to the bedroom the subject opened a nightstand drawer and produced a handgun. Officer Lamb rushed the subject, knocked the handgun from her hand and restrained her until additional help arrived.

Officer John Kuzemchak; Exceptional Service Award

On September 21, 1999 Officer Kuzemchak responded to a suicidal woman on a rooftop threatening to jump. While other Officers distracted the woman Officer Kuzemchak climbed the roof, tackled the despondent woman and prevented her from taking her own life.

Sergeant Richard Recine; Exceptional Service Award

On September 21, 1999 Sgt. Recine responded to a suicidal woman on a rooftop threatening to jump. While another Officer climbed the roof Sgt. Recine was able to distract her by climbing onto a ledge and distract her until she was restrained by another Officer.

Detective Kenneth Schwarz; Exceptional Service Award

On December 5, 1999 a parental kidnapping occurred in Franklin Township. On January 4, 2000, as a result of Det. Schwarz' investigative skills an informant notified him of the suspects whereabouts in Vineland, New Jersey. He responded and observed the suspect and child in the home. Because of prior threats to harm the child he dressed as a firefighter and duped the suspect into opening the door. The suspect was arrested without incident, and the unharmed child was returned to his father.

Officer Gregory Borlan; Letter of Commendation

A letter of commendation was awarded for his assistance in apprehending an armed robbery suspect on November 2, 1999.

Detective Kenneth Schwarz; Letter of Commendation

A letter of commendation was awarded for his assistance in apprehending an armed robbery suspect on November 2, 1999.

Detective Darrin Russo; Letter of Commendation

A letter of commendation was awarded for his assistance in apprehending an armed robbery suspect on November 2, 1999.

Detective Sergeant Richard Grammar; Letter of Commendation

A letter of commendation was awarded for his assistance in apprehending an armed robbery suspect on November 2, 1999.

Officer Craig Ally; Letter of Commendation

A letter commending his actions on November 9, 1999 in locating and arresting an armed robbery suspect who was subsequently charged with multiple armed robberies in multiple jurisdictions.

Officer Kristen Durham; Letter of Commendation

A letter commending her actions on November 9, 1999 in locating and arresting an armed robbery suspect who was subsequently charged with multiple armed robberies in multiple jurisdictions.

Detective Patrick Colligan; Letter of Commendation

A letter commending his actions in arresting a parental kidnapping suspect on January 4, 2000.

Officer Mark Reiner; Letter of Commendation

A letter commending his actions on July 12, 2000 for his swift action in reviving and saving the life of a heart attack victim.

Detective Brian Gilmurray; Letter of Commendation

A letter commending his actions in investigating and arresting a suspect in the murder of a 15 year old Franklin Township youth.

Officer Daniel McNamara; Letter of Commendation

A letter commending his actions on March 5, 2000. While responding to a shots fired call he was able to locate the suspects and recover the firearm. Later ballistic tests of the handgun showed the weapon was used in a previously unsolved murder in Franklin Township. A suspect was subsequently charged in the murder.

Officer Alex Sobdinow; Letter of Commendation

A letter commending his actions on November 6, 1999. Officer Sobdinow and another officer responded to a fight involving a handgun. Upon his arrival one of the suspects fled. He and another officer chased the suspect, arrested him and recovered the handgun.

Officer Michael Price; Letter of Commendation

A letter commending his actions on November 6, 1999. Officer Price and another officer responded to a fight involving a handgun. Upon his arrival one of the suspects fled. He and another officer chased the suspect, arrested him and recovered the handgun.

Detective Darrin Russo; Letter of Commendation

A letter commending his actions in locating and arresting a murder suspect on March 18, 2000.

Detective Kenneth Schwarz; Letter of Commendation

A letter commending his actions in locating and arresting a murder suspect on March 18, 2000.

Detective Darrin Russo; Letter of Commendation

A Letter commending his actions in solving a rash of "smash and grab" burglaries that occurred throughout the Township in August and September 2000.
